On the lid of the boxes, a depiction of a dog standing upright, holding with its front paws a shield bearing a monogram formed by the letters “J.B.J.”, placed over a wavy ribbon inscribed with “Amazonas”, beneath which appears the phrase “Sardinhas especiaes em azeite superior” (Special sardines in superior olive oil).
On a band for the same boxes, consisting of four rectangles with decorative borders and corners, separated alternately by the monogram “J.B.J.” or by a figure of a woman in traditional Ovar attire (ovarina). One of the rectangles contains the name of the registrant and “Lisboa e Portugal”; the next reads “Sardinhas em azeite” (Sardines in olive oil); the third says “Fabrico esmerado” (Carefully prepared); and the last, “Sardinhas escolhidas – Setúbal – Portugal.”
Intended for sardines in olive oil.
